Mitski returns with Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, her eighth studio album and a continuation of the musical path set out on The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. Built around live instrumentation from her touring band and expanded ensemble arrangements, the record favours clarity, restraint and emotional precision.

All songs and vocals are by Mitski, with production and engineering handled by Patrick Hyland and mastering by Bob Weston. Drums and logistical support come from Kris Bulakowski. Orchestral sections were recorded at Sunset Sound and TTG Studios, arranged and conducted by Drew Erickson, with engineering by Michael Harris and additional support from Isaac Diskin and Alex Miller.

The album balances intimacy with scale, allowing strings, horns and rhythm to move in service of the songs rather than spectacle. Tracks such as ‘Where’s My Phone?’, ‘I’ll Change for You’ and ‘If I Leave’ highlight the record’s melodic directness and emotional weight.

Alongside her recording work, Mitski continues to expand her creative practice across film and theatre, reinforcing her reputation as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary songwriting.
