With "Oracular Spectacular" the duo Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser present their first album, which is a mysterious and prophetic collection of hallucinations of evocative sounds and hook-spiked pop tones. The music continuously reverses expectations and owes as much to chaos theory as to fractal geometry. In contrast to the early live shows, which were mainly generated electronically, this album is characterized by traditional rock instruments: Guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, synthesizer - and everything recorded live.
