Max Richter's Infra is the first in a series of collaborations by Max Richter with the Royal Ballet, London and British choreographers Wayne McGregor. After the 2008 premiere of the ballet, which is a direct response to the 7/7/2005 bombings, music gave Richter, the composer, no peace. He rededicated himself to his musical ideas and composed them into a full album. Sources of inspiration for Richter Schubert's Winterreise, a song cycle by Wilhelm Muller and TS Eliot's "The Waste Land." Composed for piano, string quartet and electronics, Infra's music unmistakably represents Max Richter's hypnotic sound.
