  • 2009 album from the eclectic guitarist. Although John Frusciante is best known as the former guitarist of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, he also has an active solo career, having released 11 albums under his own name. His solo recordings include elements ranging from experimental rock and ambient music to New Wave and Electronica.

"The Empyrean" is Frusciante's eighth solo album. It was originally released on January 20, 2009.

He is supported on the record by Chili Peppers colleague Flea on bass and Josh Klinghoffer on drums. Other guests include Johnny Marr (The Smiths), the New Dimension Singers, and the Sonus Quartet.

A total of ten songs await on "The Empyrean," including an instrumental track and the Tim Buckley cover "Songs For The Siren."

"The Empyrean (10 Year Anniversary Issue)" was mastered from the original analog tapes at Bernie Grundman Mastering.

An absolute highlight on vinyl: Here is the reissue of John Frusciante's "The Empyrean" on double LP.
