The trio, founded in 1973 by Neu! and Cluster members, marked a turning point in Krautrock: away from fusionitis, away from overambitious antagonism, away from irony, which all too often only concealed lousy skills. Harmonia played its impressionistic sketches with a minimalist gesture. No lyrics marred the sound, everything was repetitive, peacefully atmospheric and somehow LoFi. Brian Eno listened so deeply into these kitschy intricacies that he was able to invent ambient. Today, after 31 years, it sounds a bit unfinished, especially the entrances and exits, but the naive charm of the music remained. The album kicks off a series of remastered reissues of legendary Brain records. Among them also "II" by Cluster. Eno also listened to it intensively, of course.
